This weekend uncovered another hidden gem: Cherohala Skyway. Similar to the Blue Ridge Parkway, it’s a mile-high skyway that runs from Robbinsville, NC to Tellico Plains, TN. The drive is beautiful and there are tons of stop offs for quick hikes or picnics at breezy overlooks. The best part is that it’s not super crowded!
My husband, Sam, & I found ourselves driving the entire skyway on Labor Day and it was nothing compared to the crowds we would have found back on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We hiked out to a bald and through a forest with huge, old trees. Both were easy and only a couple miles total, so there are plenty of options to chose your own adventure. This is a great day trip from Atlanta, Asheville, or Knoxville. Most folks have not heard about this one, but worth checking out very soon!
